Objective To observe and evaluate the curative effect and safety of in situ skin regenerative restoration therapy in treating compound burned wounds. Methods Burned wounds of forty-one patients with compound injuries were treated with in situ skin regenerative restoration therapy at the meantime of performing active treatments for compound injuries; in addition, some symptomatic treatments of anti-infection, anti-shock and nutrition support and etc. were used. The curative effects were observed. Results One patient died of severe craniocerebral injury on the third day of treatment, one patient died of traumatic shock on the second day of treatment, and the other 39 patients all recovered and were discharged from hospital. Of the fifteen patients with deep second-degree burns, three cases realized wound healing with mild scar formation not affecting function, while the other 12 cases realized wound healing without obvious scarring. Hyperpigmentation occurred in 11 cases out of the 39 healed patients. The mean healing times were 10.3 d士1.9 d, 19.8 d士2.4 d and 32.5 d士6.4 d for superficial second-degree wounds, deep second-degree wounds and third-degree wounds respectively. During the treatment course, no obvious pain or adverse reactions happened. The curative effect of anti-infection was significant. Conclusion The application of in situ skin regenerative restoration therapy to treat compound burned wounds can better protect and repair wounds and realize effects of anti-pain and anti-infection, solving the timing conflict problem in treating compound injuries, it therefore provides a new treatment approach for the patients with severe compound burned wounds.
