【Abstract】Objective: To study the clinical efficacy of the in situ regenerative medical technology in the treatment of traumatic nail bed defect. Methods: Sixty patients with traumatic nail bed defect (65 fingers involved) admitted into the Huangdao People’s Hospital, Qingdao, since the year of 1997 were treated with Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO Ointment) directly after the simple debridement, and the dressing was changed every 4-6 hours. The treatment efficacy was observed and compared with that of 60 patients (62 fingers involved) randomly selected and treated with the surgical method of western medicine in the same hospital and at the same time period. Result:Of the 65 fingers receiving the treatment of the in situ regenerative medical technology,58 fingers(89.23%)realized excellent curative effect, 5 fingers(7.69%)good curative effect and 2 fingers(3.08%)average curative effect, with the total excellent and good rate being 96.92%; while of the 62 fingers receiving the treatment of the western surgical method, 18 fingers(29.03%) got excellent curative effect,9 fingers(14.52%) good curative effect,21 fingers (33.87%) average curative effect and 14 fingers (22.58%)poor curative effect, with the total excellent and good rate being 43.55%. There was statistically significant difference between the two groups P<0.01).Conclusion: The in situ regenerative medical technology in the treatment of traumatic nail bed defect can realize significant curative effect, such as helping in situ regenerate new nails and restoring the finger length and function completetly, deserving to be promoted and popularized in clinic.
