【Abstract】Objective: To observe the clinical effects of Vacuum Sealing Drainage (VSD) in the treatment of wound with post-traumatic infection in orthopedics. Methods: Sixty-four patients with orthopedic post-traumatic infection admitted to the Orthopedics Department of Dashiqiao Central Hospital between January 2013 and February 2015 were evenly divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table. Patients in the treatment group were treated with VSD in combination with skin grafting while patients in the control group were treated with conventional dressing change combined with skin grafting. The wound condition after two weeks of treatment was observed and compared between the two groups. Results: The wound healing time in the treatment group was (14.02±2.32)d, with a total effective rate of 96.9%, while that in the control group was(21.24±5.13)d, with a total effective rate of 68.7%, and the difference was statistically significant, P<0.05. Conclusion: VSD, when applied for the treatment of wounds with post-traumatic infection in orthopedics, can remarkably shorten the wound healing time, improve the total effective rate, alleviate patients’ pain and reduce the medical expenses, deserving to be widely promoted in clinical practice.
