【Abstract】 Objective TO observe and discuss the clinical effect of MEBO scar ointment in combination with ultrasonic-ion in the treating hypertrophic scarring. Methods 146 patients with hypertrophic scarring after burns and scalds, admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of Yichang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2010 to November 2015, were randomly distributed into two groups: the treatment group (73 patients) and the control group (73 patients). Patients in the treatment group were treated by MEBO scar ointment in combination with ultrasonic-ion while patients in the control group were treated by MEBO scar ointment only. The clinical effects were observed and compared three months later. Results Among 73 patients in the treatment group, 3 patients withdrew due to the eczema-like changes in the hypertrophic scar during the treatment; after 3 months of treatment, there were 29 markedly effective cases and 35 effective cases with a total effective rate of 91.4%. In the control group, there were 18 markedly effective cases and 33 effective cases after 3 months of treatment with a total effective rate of 69.9%. The difference between the two groups is statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion The clinical effect of MEBO scar ointment in combination with ultrasonic-ion in the treatment of hypertrophic scarring is excellent with a simple and safe procedure, which deserves being widely used in the clinical practice for treating hypertrophic scars. |
